Here at NCG, Inc we do as much as possible to inspire this confidence in our people through meetings, training sessions, conferences, and hands on training. But, you can only do so much, confidence and belief comes from within. So, when we found this article about the main reasons that people are afraid to set big goals, we thought it would be worth our time to run one of our mornings meetings on the topic.

1. Fear of Rejection.
Everyone has experienced fear and rejection at some point in their lives. However most of us focus on the rejection itself, rather than the reason for the rejection. Being rejected doesn't mean it's the end, it just means it time to figure out why, redirect your efforts, and to put your energy back into achieving your goals. Figure out a way to get past the fear of rejection, don't let that be the reason you don't get everything you want out of life and your career.

2. Fear of Failure.
Fear of failure is usually a pretty intense feeling. If you let that consume you, it can be the reason why you never step out of your comfort zone and do the things necessary to get to your goals. See failure as one of those things that just happens in life. When it happens, re-strategize. If you really want something, failure should never stop you. Don't let past failure dictate your future success, put them behind you, make the necessary changes, and move forward!

3. Fear of Stumbling.
Stumbling along the way is a process in almost every pursuit. If you stumble, get back up. Think about it this way, when you were a baby and learning to walk, you probably fell a lot right? Back then you just got back up and tried again because you didn't know any better and you didn't know what fear was yet. Imagine what would have happened if you didn't get back up, you never would have learned how to walk. Sooner or later in life, you'll find yourself stumbling across bumpy road, but at the end of the day, if you stay the course, there will be smoother roads to come!

4. Fear of what comes next.
Find yourself worrying about what comes next? Instead of worrying about what will happen when you get there, use that energy to give yourself the opportunity to get there first. Think positive and allow things to flow. Once you reach your next goal, THEN ask yourself what comes next, and come up with a new plan to achieve your next goal. Every step we take, we need to motivate ourselves to take another step until we obtain utter contentment.

5. Fear of Isolation.
On the journey of our pursuits, we can face a number of isolating factors if we feel we are not getting the encouragement we need. The good news is that isolation doesn't always have to be bad. See this alone time to go over your plans and make improvements where they're needed. Your passions are your own, taking time to focus on them can benefit your long term goals and reinforce your drive. Don't see it as a negative and turn it into a positive.

6. Finding the energy to KEEP GOING.
It's easy to become idol after the stress of feeling like things aren't going anywhere. The best thing that you can do is to find the energy to keep going. Surround yourself with all things positive, change your outlook on life, and seek out motivational factors that energize all aspects of your being. Having the energy to accomplish your goals is as important as having air. Having the energy to achieve ambitious goals can determine whether or not we get there. Energy is a driving force in everything that we do.

7. What if it's too big for me to accomplish?
Never say never! Nothing is to great to accomplish or too big to achieve. Keep yourself in the game of life and see yourself as being capable of doing anything that the next person can do. Once you start seeing yourself as being capable  and having the strength to overcome all obstacles - all things that once seemed "too big" suddenly seem achievable. It's easy to take on the smaller steps, so have those steps lead you towards your big goal.

8. Urgent need to be perfect.
Nothing is ever perfect. So, there is no need to create unwanted stress over getting everything perfect. If you know deep down that you're doing everything in your power to achieve your goals, then see that. See perfection in YOUR hard work and dedication and knowing that you're giving it your all. Perfection is what you make it, no one else.

9. Lack of general know-how.
Sometimes the biggest thing that holds us back is wondering how to even get started. Sometimes just taking one step in the right direction is enough. Let your inspiration guide you and you'll find the right coaches and mentors to help you out along the way!

10. Lack of encouragement.
Unfortunately, some people have a hard time finding encouragement. So, instead of relying on other people to encourage you, why not focus on doing it yourself? Use motivational quotes, tell yourself that you can do it, and always breaking down your big goals into smaller increments that are easier to achieve to build your confidence.

11. Lack of ambition.
The lack of ambition that some people have is usually derived from the general fears people have attributed they see themselves or in the ways they think that other people see them. Be confident. Understand that they key to success lies in your hands, no one else's. As long as you carry your ambition with you, fear cannot over come you.
