Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. Reviews: Winners vs. Losers

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. Reviews: Winners vs. Losers

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. asked our people some questions today about winners and losers.

How would you classify a winner?
-          Go getter
-          Determined
-          Competitive
-          Self motivated
-          A master of their craft

How would you classify a loser?
-          Quitter
-          Lazy
-          Excuse maker
-          Drama Queen/King
-          Person who has a “dark cloud” following them

Would you think of these people as winners or losers?
1.       Babe Ruth? (Office answer: No)
2.       Jim Carey? (Office answer: No)
3.       Michael Jordan? (Office answer: No)
4.       Jack Nicholas? (Office answer: No)
5.       Billy Joel? (Office answer: No)

When we asked them why they thought these people were all winners, the unanimous response was because they are all well known, successful, and they match the reasons why they mentioned earlier as to what defines a winner.

But, what is less known about these people are all the failures that they had to endure to get to the place where they are recognized now for their greatness.

Babe Ruth
-  Holds the record for the most strike-outs in the National Baseball League

            Jim Cary
- Went on 3000 failed auditions before he got his first gig on “In Living Color.”

         Michael Jordan
       - Was cut from his high school basketball team and has been missed more than 2000 shots in his career

          Jack Nicholas
           -   Has the most 2nd place wins in Golf

           Billy Joel
  -  Was homeless for over 2 years before he finally got his big break in music

So, why doesn’t anyone classify these people as losers?
-          Well, all of them have one thing in common. Determination. No matter how many times they failed at something they kept going. Their dreams were more important than the obstacles that got in their way.
-          No one remembers any of the bad things that happen, all they remember are the good and all that they have accomplished

Facts about winners and losers:
1.       A loser is always part of the problem, A winner is always part of the solution
2.       A loser always has an excuse, a winner always takes responsibility
3.       A loser says, “that’s not my job!” while a winner says, “let me do that for you”
4.       A loser sees the sand trap on the green, a winner see’s the green around the sand trap
5.       A loser says it’s impossible, a winner says, it might e difficult, but it’s not impossible

The only difference between a “winner” and a “loser” is mindset. The only time someone loses is when they give up on reaching their goals. So today and from now on, decide who you want to be. A winner or a loser.

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. Reviews: How to Channel Your Stress!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. Reviews: Are You Addicted to Stress?

Do you ever feel like you just can’t relax? You’re anxious, jumpy, nervous, or worrying about something all the time? Stress not only takes a toll on you emotionally, but physically as well. Over 43% of adults suffer adverse health effects from stress. It can cause problems such as high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety. So, why do we stress so much?
After reading this article, “Are You Addicted to Stress” from www.under30ceo.com/ Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. decided to review it and share it with our people. These are some warning signs that you may be holding onto stress and brining it on in your life!
If you’re running your own business or in a position of leadership, other people will turn to you in times of need. They expect you to tell them what to do and lead them in the right direction. We do this because it feels good to help people right? But what about when you have tons of emails to answer, phone calls to make, meetings to attend, people to direct, and everyone seems to need something from you? The simple answer is: your vision narrows, your head starts to spin, your chest tightens.. STRESS happens.
If you are someone who likes to be in a leadership role or aspire to run your own business, then you are addicted to stress. When we hear the word “addicted” we automatically associate negativity with it, right? But can’t we be addicted to good things? Things like healthy eating, spending time with our family, exercise, etc.? So, if we can change our thought process on the word “addiction” and flip It positive, then why can’t we do the same with stress?
Well, mainly it is hard. When stress happens there are different ways to react. We can worry, suffer from anxiety, shut down, and feel as though there is no climbing out of this mess. OR we can take a deep breath and get busy!
The idea of a relaxed entrepreneur is way more attractive than the busy one right? Wrong. But, as a society, we struggle with giving ourselves the opportunity to be relaxed and still achieve success. We take things to extremes. If we “relax” we literally do nothing and if we “work hard” we run ourselves ragged and are a ball of stress. But, the solution to this is simple and can be summed up in one word, Commitment. Do exactly what you always do, but instead of getting stressed out, take a deep breath and commit to feeling relaxed. The only reason you stress is because you have conditioned yourself for stress. Throughout your entire career you have ensured that you met every situation of discomfort and uncertainty with stress and now have brainwashed yourself into associating this feeling with productivity and making a difference.
The only way to fix this is to commit to it and create new habits. The mind is a powerful thing, visualize success with a feeling of peace. Change your thinking on productivity to being relaxed and aware. This is a challenging task at first, but eventually you’ll train yourself to associate your work, productivity, and success with a relaxed state of mind.

Northeast Consutling Group, Inc. Reviews: How to Get Taken Seriously By Your Employees!

If you want to be successful as a manager, a business owner, or a leader, then the people who you lead need to take you seriously. This tends to be pretty challenging, especially if you’re recently promoted or not used to being in a leadership role. But, no matter how long you’ve been in these positions, sometimes earning the respect of those around you can be a challenging task. Since Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. is committed to providing an atmosphere that gives our employees the resources that they would need to be successful in Management roles moving forward, when we saw this article on www.under30ceo.com/ we decided to share it with our people!

How to get taken seriously by your employees:

1. Separate BUSINESS from PERSONAL:
It’s important for your employees to see you as the boss and think of you in that role. Bringing too much of your personal life into that equation can be troublesome. Don’t talk to your employees about your dating adventures, or spend hours on personal calls at the office. Nobody will take you seriously if they see these personal parts of your life. It is important for your people to see you as a boss.

2. Set an example with time:
Do you want your employees to show up for work on time? Do you want them to put in a full and productive work day? The answer of course, is YES. But, if you take two hour lunches every day and cut out of the office at 3:00 on Friday, then don’t be surprised if your people start adopting the same habits. Set a good example and demonstrate the behavior you want to encourage.

3. Don’t pass the buck:
Leaders get a lot of credit when things go well. But, they have to take responsibility when things go badly too. Don’t think you can, “pass the buck” and shift the blame to your employees. What they do under your leadership is a direct reflection of your management ability. If workers need more training, better supervision, or even reassignment to other duties, it’s YOUR job to make that happen.

4. Treat them like employees, not servants:
Unless this is your personal assistant, remember that they are employees of your company and not your servants. They come to work to accomplish corporate objectives, not to pick up your dry cleaning, buy your theatre tickets, or run out and pick up coffee. It’s demeaning for them to do these things. It shows that you don’t value their real job because you would rather them take time out of your day to do these menial tasks. If you want your people to be productive, you have to make them feel valued. You can do this by organizing weekly meetings and letting your employees talk freely about their concerns. Treat them like humans, not numbers. Everyone has problems, so as a boss, it’s your job to fix them.

5. Keep confidential information to yourself:
As a manager, you have a lot of information that comes your way on a day to day basis. This includes company plans, personnel issues, budget numbers, and salary figures. When this information is shared with you from an employee on a confidential basis, you NEED to keep it that way. Sharing private information is a big no-no. If you don’t want your employees talking about this information with each other, you have to set the right example first and not talk about it with them. As a boss, your people need to trust you. This can only be achieved if your relationship is professional and respectful.

6. Help your team out:
When there is a fast approaching deadline or task to be accomplished, it’s normal that you ask your team to put in some overtime hours, right? Well, it really helps them stay focused and motivated if you’re willing to do some extra work too. If you’re out enjoying your weekend while they’re slaving away, it can foster resentment. See what you can do to chip in and help out. Put in some extra effort yourself and make it a team effort. They will respect you more simply for the fact that you’re willing to go the extra mile. Also, this ensures that in the future they’ll take you more seriously the next time you ask them to put in extra effort.

If you want your employees to take you seriously and respect you in the work place, the most important thing that you have to do is act like a human being. Even though you are in charge, don’t abuse your position. No one likes the over bearing boss who is on a power trip. Having a solid work environment is all about communication, interaction, and cooperation. People enjoy working in team environments with open communication because it allows mutual ideas to foster great ideas and great ideas lead to great business!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. Reviews: 6 Tips to Boosting Your Confidence!

Northeast Consulting Group Inc. Reviews: 6 Tips to Boosing Your Confidence!

Ever feel down in the dumps? Scared to try something because you’re worried that you won’t be good at it? Or stray away from taking risks because you’re worried you won’t be able to do it? The biggest reason for this is because we lack confidence in ourselves. So, Northeast Consulting Group, Inc. decided to review this article from www.success.com/ called “6 Confidence Boosters.” So, incorporate these habits into your life that will help you become a more confident person starting today!

6 Confidence Boosters:

1. Greet others with a smile and look them directly in the eye:
A smile and direct eye contact convey confidence. Answer the phone the same way whether you’re at work or at home. Eye contact shows that you are confidence because you’re not shying away from looking at someone or greeting them with respect.

2. Always show real appreciation for a gift or compliment:
Don’t downplay or sidestep expressions of affection or honor from others. The ability to accept or receive is a universal mark of an individual with solid self-esteem. If you shy away from compliments or try to downplay one that has been given to you, the message that you’re putting out is that you don’t believe in yourself as much as they do. After a period of time, the people around you will start to lose confidence In you too.

3. Don’t Brag:
It’s almost a paradox that genuine modesty is actually part of the capacity to gracefully receive compliments. People who brag about their exploits or demand special attention are simply trying to build themselves up in the eyes of others. The only reason they do that is because they don’t already perceive themselves as being worth of respect.

4. Don’t make your problems the centerpiece of your conversation:
Talk positively about your life and the progress you’re trying to make. Be aware of any negative thinking and take notice of how often you complain. When you hear yourself criticize someone (THIS INCLUDES CRITICIZING YOURSELF), find a way to be helpful instead. This way you can address the issue, but fix the problem as well.

5. Respond to difficult times or depressing moments by increasing your level of productive activity:
When your self-esteem is challenged, don’t sit around and fall victim to “paralysis by analysis.” The late Malcolm Forbes said, “Vehicles in motion use their generators to charge their own batteries. Unless you happen to be a golf cart, you can’t recharge your battery when you’re parked in the garage!”

6. Choose to see mistakes and rejections as opportunities to learn:
View a misstep as the conclusion of one performance, not the end of your entire career. Refuse to see yourself as a failure. Even though you have to own up to your shortcomings, you don’t have to let them consume you. A failure may be something you have done and may even do again on the way to success, but failure is not something that you are.

After an extremely poor performance, a team or an individual athlete often does much better the next time out, especially when the performance was so bad that there was simply no way to shirk responsibility for it. Disappointment, defeat, and even apparent failure are in no way permanent conditions unless we choose to make them though. Failure can be a painful experience, but it can be the solid foundation that we use to build our future success on.

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc Reviews: Getting Yourself Out of A Rut!

Ever feel like you're not working to your full potential? That your job is tedious and boring? You're not alone. This article from www.under30ceo is all about changing that feeling. When we start to feel this way we categorize ourselves as being "stuck in a funk" and that only leads to unhappiness in and out of the workplace, as well as low morale and production. According to a Gallup study of employee satisfaction, of 230,000 full time and part time workers in 142 countries, only 13% of workers feel engaged by their jobs. That number is astounding, that means that 87% of people feel disconnected and unhappy at work. I don't know about you, but I want to be in the 13% range and feel good about what I'm doing. So, how do we do it? Northeast Consulting Group, Inc cares about it's people's personal and professional development and making sure that they are finding satisfaction in their job roles within our company. This article really gave us something to think about in the areas where we can help our people feel even better about their work!
Tips to get you out of your rut:
1. Buy a plane ticket and go to a place you've never been before and spend time with people you haven't met before
  • What better way to give yourself a breath of fresh air than to change your scenery! Figure out a way to take a short vacation and go somewhere that you've always wanted to go and never felt like you had time to do it or that you could. The first step is to do something that will give you happiness, put yourself first!
2. Grab a cup of coffee or tea at your local shop and start a conversation with someone. You never know what opportunities it might lead to.

3. Go for a walk/run on the beach with no technology. Just you and the beach.
  • With the evolution of cell phones and social media, it's almost impossible to get some real you time. We all have our email, Facebook, twitter, Tumblr, etc. connected to us at all time in just one easy place, our phone. Leave technology behind and focus on you for a change!
4. Look for places where you can have a clear view of the sunrise/sunset and just sit there and meditate.
  •  Clear your mind, let go of things that are worrying you, and decide what direction you want your life to go and what steps you're going to take to get there!
5. Reach out to someone you look up to and learn their personal story.
  • What better way to re-motivate yourself than to hear about the struggles that someone you admire went through and how they overcame them. If they can do it, why not you?
6. Call up your friends and play a sport for fun!
  • Exercise releases endorphin's that make you happy and feel great. If you feel good, you'll be happier, period.
7. Do some volunteer work.
  •  No matter how bad you feel like your situation is, someone out there has it worse, why not help them out?
8. Read a book.
  •  Fiction is easiest way to escape reality and dive into a different place. A good book allows you to forget everything and just focus on what's right in front of you.
9. Have meaningful conversations.
  •  Human interaction is something that is becoming less and less common with the advancement of technology. Today's culture makes it acceptable to have conversations via email or texting. That's not personal! There's something to be said for having a real conversation with a real person who is with you in person and not through your cell phone.
10. Start a blog!
  • Share your thoughts and feelings with other people. You never know who will be reading.
11. Eat something you've never eaten before.
  • Find new restaurants or food stores in your area and shake things up! What's more fun than trying authentic foods from different places or learning new recipes to shake things up!
12. Have a karaoke night with your friends and sing the night away!
  • News flash, you don't have to be a good singer to get up there and have a blast. It is extremely liberating to just belt out your favorite tunes with your friends and not care who is watching or listening. Plus, if you've ever been to karaoke, no one is ever good! So, you have nothing to worry about!
13. Help a friend with a side-project.
  • There's so many benefits there. It gives you the opportunity to spend more time with your friend, learn some new skills, and meet some new people in the process!
In general your life, your career, and your situation is what it is. But, you can change how you feel about it by changing how you look at things. The biggest reason for feeling like you're "in a funk" is because you're telling yourself that you are. At the end of the day, remember, we only get one life and sometimes, it's okay to take care of you first!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc Reviews: 5 Tips to Building Strong Relationships!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc is more that just a marketing firm. We understand the importance of networking and making the right connections. It is one of the core fundamental things we teach our people throughout the time they spend in the Account Manager position. So when we saw this article about building the right relationships on www.under30ceo.com it really caught our eye and we decided to share it with you.

Everyone has heard of the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” But, in reality it isn’t just that. It’s what you know, how you know it, and what you plan to do about those things. Who you know just gives you the opportunity to exemplify those things. Connections will always help you advance the course of your success whether you are in entrepreneur, a young professional, or just trying to climb the corporate ladder. This article covered 5 ways to increase the network of people you know and build the right relationships with them.
5 Tips to Building Relationships that Matter:
1. Strengthen your current positive relationships:
  • Look for people that are always giving you good feedback. The business contacts that are not afraid tot ell you the truth, offer you wisdom, and give you great, specific feedback. There are not just the people you like to have beers and conversation with and not just the people who are nice to you. Expand your boundaries farther than where you’re comfortable and get to know and building stronger relationships with your coaches.
2. Move away from the negative:
  • Negative doesn’t mean critical. Moving away from the negative means getting yourself away from people who are negative for no reason, offer no critical input after being negative. These are people who always have a “dark cloud” following them.
3. Use your time to meet new people:
  • Invest the time you gain from kicking “Eeyores” to the curb to build new positive relationships. You won’t know the value of a new relationship until it begins to grow, so don’t sell anyone short. Just be open minded and listen to what they have to say. People may surprise you!
4. Find out who is doing well and where you want to be:
  • You are who you surround yourself with. There is a statistic that shows your income is the average of your 10 best friends. So, do what it takes to give yourself an opportunity to receive advice from someone who is in a position that you want to be in. Follow their lead, they’ve done it, right?
5. Be sure to have, or develop new ideas:
  • successful people will be willing to share information with someone who is engaging, competent, and legitimately curious. But, they will not tell you everything. You don’t want to be them, you want to be you. But, the information and skill sets that they have can help you create a better version of you.
This article really hits home about building the right kind of positive relationships to make yourself more successful in the business world. Although it is important to have connects and relationships with people, it is more important to have the right ones. Successful people spend time and give advice to other successful people or to people who seem like they could be. Whether you’re experienced in the business world or a young professional looking to get your foot in the door and start a career. Focus on who you talk to and remember that a relationship doesn’t have to be permanent to be meaningful.

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc Reviews: How To Impress Your Boss!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc Reviews: How To Impress Your Boss!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc is a privately owned firm that specializes in direct marketing, brand building, public relations, and consulting for Fairfield County, Connecticut. Northeast Consulting Group, Inc is committed to providing a predictable career path for our people that leads to an opportunity in management.

Ever feel like you are that person who flies under the radar? Never really gets the recognition or appreciation you deserve in the workplace? If so, you would be surprised to know how many people share those same feelings everyday. With that in mind, Northeast Consulting Group, Inc found this article from www.under30ceo.com that was all about how to impress your boss.

How To Impress Your Boss!

When we think about impressing our boss, manager, supervisor, etc. the common advice that has always been given is "dress for success", "show up on time", "be positive", or "be REALLY good at what you do." But, what if you feel like you are doing all of those things and still not getting the results that you are looking for? Well, there are some less common suggestions that every young professional should know about when they are trying to impress their superiors.

1. Be a leader within the office
  • Now before you go ahead and say, "How can I lead if I'm not in charge?", think about it. The most respected leaders are individuals who empower those around them. Do you have to be in charge to empower the people around you? NO WAY! For example, if someone in your office is struggling with something you have two choices. First, you could let them struggle to make yourself look good in comparison. Or, you can offer tips and help out that person so that you both succeed. That demonstrates how valuable you can be to the company because you care about the success of others, not just your own.
  • This concept is something that Northeast Consulting Group, Inc lives by and preaches daily. You make yourself irreplaceable if you are able to do a task well and inspire the people around you to do well too. This ensures that you make yourself a valuable member of a team. In turn, it allows you to have leadership by influence, rather than leadership by position, which is more valuable? Would you rather listen and follow someone who you respect and admire? Or, would you rather listen and follow someone because you have to?
  • Choose the kind of leader that you want to be!

2. Be a problem solver
  • In the workplace, MONEY = TIME. Every time you ask your boss a question, understand that you are requesting some of their time. Most of the time superiors are happy to help someone navigate a new set of circumstances if it leads to increasing your capabilities and productivity. However, this is not justification to ask assistance every time a road block appears.
  • To be a problem solver, utilize your resources. For instance, if something is common knowledge, Google it! Confused about the directions for a project? Refer back to your original notes or training manual, the answer is probably right there in front of you. If you turn into the person that runs to your boss every time you need something, you WILL come off as needy and ultimately give the impression that you are more trouble than you are worth.
  • Also, do not just focus on identifying a problem, focus on the solution. By consistently demonstrating this, you show that you are self sufficient, a critical thinker, and someone who is ready for more responsibility. Increased responsibilities = promotions = $$!

3. Don't approach the office like school
  • In school if you do a good job you get an "A" at the top. At work, if you do a good job, you don't get fired. While some bosses apply positive reinforcement, in reality, most office environments don't do that on a daily basis. At work, you're expected to do your best and if not, then it's a reason for concern by the employer.

4. Handle pressure and mistakes with grace
  • No matter how talented you are, you will make mistakes. The real test is how you react to it. ALWAYS be honest and do not blame others or try to justify the situation. If you know you made a mistake, come prepared with a plan of action on how to fix the situation and what you will do next time to ensure that the same mistake will not be repeated twice.
  • You do not want to act nonchalant about making a mistake, you must make sure that you do not let it affect your professionalism or productivity. Most importantly DO NOT DWELL! Try to let it roll off your back. The ability to stay calm, not crack under pressure, and keep a cool head is a fundamental trait of someone who can handle responsibility.
  • Some people are better at this than others, but focus on what you can control to reduce stress. Things like going to the gym or for a walk over lunch, breathing exercises, or meditation can have a direct impact on lowering stress making it easier for you to be able to handle tough situations that may come your way.

5. Be responsible for your own growth
  • There is this thing called the internet now in days. It has countless educational articles, industry lecturers, and networking forums. Do not let your professional growth only occur between the hours of your job.
  • So, instead of waiting for someone to tell you to take some training sessions, give you new projects, or tell you to reach out. Do it on your own. Take your career development into your own hands by learning or strengthening a new skill and offering those services to your superiors.
  • The major difference between a follower and a leader is that the first group waits for opportunities while the second classification CREATES them.

In conclusion, this entire article is based upon being a "do-er" in your career. Take the necessary actions to step up and set yourself apart outside of the common things. By following those 5 tips and still doing the common tips to impressing your boss, you basically ensure that you will be noticed. The people who stand out at work, for the RIGHT reasons of course, are always the people in the running for that big promotion, or raise, or holiday bonus. Instead of wishing that you were going to be one of those people, change your mindset on your career and take action!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc Reviews: Healthy Habits for Increased Productivity!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc Reviews: Healthy Habits for Increased Productivity!

Northeast Consulting Group, Inc is a privately owned firm that specializes in direct marketing, brand building, public relations, and consulting for Fairfield County, Connecticut. Northeast Consulting Group, Inc is committed to providing a predictable career path towards management for  our employees.

There is a general assumption throughout people in the working world that you are only working hard if you are working strenuous and long hours. If you leave work completely emotionally and physically exhausted. This is not something that Northeast Consulting Group, Inc believes to be true. We believe in working smarter not always just harder. We found this article from Under 30 CEO that models our beliefs.

Healthy Habits for Increased Productivity!

Anyone in the working world knows that finding time to eat healthy, exercise, and keep up with the daily workload is huge challenge. But, adjusting certain behaviors in your daily life can increase your performance and productivity at work. Who wouldn't want that?

1. Eat right to increase focus and stamina.
  • Struggling at the work place? Running out of steam before the workday ends? Find it a challenge to concentrate? Productivity at work is closely linked to energy levels on the job. Your mentality goes down when you are tired or hungry. So naturally, the output of work suffers when you are stressed. For greater productivity at work, use healthy eating to reinforce your physical condition.
  • Limit sugar and junk food. Eating too much sugar can lead to inconsistent energy levels throughout the day. The short-term impact of a glazed doughnut or two might seem like an energy boost, but the long-term affects outweigh the initial benefits.
  • Limit carb heavy lunches. We've all heard of the dreaded "food coma" right? There's a reason for it! Carb heavy lunches slow you down in the middle of the afternoon because your body sees it as junk food!
2. Eat Breakfast!
  • Breakfast can start your day off on the right foot! Rather than loading up on caffeine, balance your intake of fruits, grains, and cereals.
3. Moderate activity enhances productivity
  • If you're unlucky enough to be stuck at a desk all day and your daily tasks revolve around computer work and other stationary tasks, find a way to move around!
  • Exercise at your desk! It may seem unconventional, but desk workouts enhance productivity. This keeps your blood flowing and your body healthy!
  • Utilize your breaks and lunch hour! Your lunch break gives you the opportunity to reinvigorate yourself for the afternoon workload.
